Licensing & Usage
The AmberSide collection is a curated art collection – a body of photographs, films and supporting materials held together by a shared documentary intent, developed over decades. It includes work produced by Amber Film & Photography Collective, commissions by Side Gallery and work acquired by the organisation, with a particular focus on the life and culture of working class people in the North East of England and internationally.
Unlike an image library, a collection is not built for commercial licensing or stock use. It is held for public benefit: to be cared for, researched, interpreted and shared. While we provide public access to the collection for cultural and educational purposes, AmberSide does not hold the copyright for all works in its care. Copyright remains with the original creators or their estates.
If you wish to reproduce or publish any work, you are responsible for seeking permission directly from the rights holder. AmberSide cannot license work on behalf of artists, and permission must be secured for any use beyond private research or study. Users are responsible for ensuring their use complies with copyright law and must secure necessary clearances for any intended use beyond personal study or research.
