Presented by Cinema Rediscovered, Amber’s 1989 film In Fading Light comes to Tyneside Cinema for three screenings. Set in North Shields’ fishing community, it follows a young woman returning home after years away, confronting old tensions, family secrets and the decline of the fishing industry.

Shot on location with local people and fishing boats, the film blends drama and documentary to create a vivid portrait of a community on the edge of change. Its mix of professional and non-professional actors, atmospheric cinematography and authentic voices has made In Fading Light one of Amber’s most celebrated works.

This is a special chance to see the film back in the North East, projected on the big screen in all its gritty beauty.
