Side Cinema

22 August 2025

Join us at Side Cinema for an hour of open conversation about where photography is headed and what that means here across our region.

Hosted by Side Gallery and Photo Connect, this forum is a space for local photographers, artists, and practitioners to come together and talk about the future of photography in the region. What’s working? What’s missing? What kind of support, space, or recognition is needed?

There’s no panel, no long presentation. Just a room of people who care about the medium, the practice, and the community around it.

Whether you’ve been working with photography for years or are just getting started, your thoughts are welcome. Come to listen, speak, share ideas, or just find out what others are thinking.

The event will be followed by an optional hour of socialising in Side Gallery.

Registration for this event is now closed. Please use the form below to sign up to join our waiting list incase seats become available.

If you would like to share any thoughts for the discussion on the evening please email [email protected] / [email protected] and we will make sure your voice is heard in our meeting and following report.

We are still accepting RSVPs for our "Side: What's Next?" event - more details on this can be found here: Side: What's Next?

About Photo Connect:

Photo Connect aims to amplify the voice of northern photographers, photographic artists and photography organisations from the grassroots up. The network is open to anyone wishing to collaborate whether individuals, community groups, organisations or educational institutions, working with Impressions Gallery, Open Eye Gallery and Side Gallery.

Whether you’re a Sunday hobbiest, a photography student, a photography teacher or a world-renowned name; a wedding photographer or a conceptual photographic artist; a grassroots community facility or a major city gallery, if you’re in the North of England then Photo Connect wants to hear your views.
