Planned Space Lived Place brings together photographs and artworks exploring New Towns and planned communities in the North East, with a focus on Peterlee, Washington and Killingworth. Drawing on the AmberSide Collection alongside work by InSide members, it looks at how these places have been imagined, built, used and remembered.

Across the exhibition, planning appears not only as architecture or policy, but as something lived through streets, homes, public space and everyday routines. The works on show trace the relationship between official ideas of progress and the more complex realities of community life.
