Side is Currently Closed
The Side Cinema, opened in 1979, is an intimate 51 seat venue, started by the Amber Collective as a "debate cinema" - a place for rigorous discussion and the opportunity to experience film collectively.
Unfortunately, due to critical funding cuts and the ongoing cost of living crisis, we have had to temporarily close our doors as of April 2023.
Your donations to the SaveSide campaign enabled us to raise major redevelopment funding to help build a more stable future for Side. Today we are actively working on a variety of activities leading to our reopening. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping us reopen and continue our mission to share stories that matter from the North East and beyond.
